The Kingdom of Mustang is hidden behind the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri massifs in central Nepal. This desertic land of oasis and Barley pastures forms part of the high Tibetan plateau. A good number of Buddhist monasteries from 14th century still have Buddhist monks. The monasteries are rich in colourful frescoes, paintings and huge status of various deities.
Mustang is a restricted area, and a special permit by the government of Nepal is required to visit the region.
